This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it. It applies to everyone who contacts us or uses our services, including through our website, phone, email, text message, social media and online forms such as Facebook and Instagram lead forms.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect and how

We only collect the information we need to quote, book, carry out and invoice your job. This may include:

• your name, phone number and email address
• the address where the work is to be done, and your billing address if different
• details about the job, such as the service you need, when you need it, and photos you send us
• notes and photos we take on site, such as switchboard details or test results
• payment and invoicing records (we do not store full credit card numbers)
• your preferred way to be contacted

We collect this information directly from you when you:

• fill out an enquiry or lead form, including on Facebook or Instagram
• call, text, email or message us
• book or accept a quote
• have us attend your property to carry out work

Sometimes we receive your details from someone else, such as a property manager, real estate agent, builder or a friend who referred you. If we do, we only use them to contact you about the job.

You can choose not to give us some information, but we may not be able to quote or complete the work without it.

How we use and share it

We use your information to:

• respond to your enquiry and contact you about your job
• prepare quotes, book appointments and carry out the work
• send invoices and receive payment
• issue compliance certificates and meet our legal and licensing obligations
• follow up on warranty, service or safety matters
• send reminders about invoices, and reminders when a service you have had with us may be due (you can opt out of service reminders, see below)

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

We only share it when we need to, with:

• the software providers we use to run the business, such as our job management, accounting, email and cloud storage systems
• your energy distributor or retailer, where the work needs a network connection or meter change
• regulators such as the Electrical Safety Office, where the law requires it
• suppliers or manufacturers, for warranty claims on products we installed
• subcontractors we may engage from time to time to help on your job, who are required to keep your information confidential
• Meta (Facebook and Instagram), which processes the details you submit through its lead forms under its own privacy policy

We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law.

Storage and security

We store your information in password-protected cloud software and devices. Paper records, if any, are kept secure and destroyed when no longer needed.

Some of the software we use may store data on servers outside Australia. We choose reputable providers that take reasonable steps to protect personal information.

We keep job and financial records for as long as the law requires, generally at least 7 years for tax purposes. After that, we securely delete or de-identify them.

Your choices and rights

Service reminders. We may let you know when a service is due, such as a smoke alarm or safety switch check, or send occasional offers. You can opt out of these at any time by replying STOP, using the unsubscribe link, or telling us.

Access and correction. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. We will respond within 30 days.

Complaints. If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
